THE FARM

Wick Bottom Barn sits at the heart of our working family farm, nestled deep in the Wiltshire countryside. Surrounded by the rolling North Wessex Downs, ancient landscapes and miles of open fields, the estate has been carefully farmed for generations — and continues to be run with passion, care and a deep respect for the land and environment.

While the barn plays host to unforgettable events, the farm is very much alive around it — from the lowing of cattle in the distance to the sight of sheep grazing just beyond the lawns. It is all part of the charm that makes this place so special: wild yet working, peaceful yet purposeful.

THE COWS

Our herd of native Shorthorn cattle are a familiar (and very photogenic) presence across the farm. Known for their gentle nature and iconic red-and-white coats, they’re grass-fed, well looked after, and often spotted ambling through the valley in the late afternoon sun.

Though not invited to the dance floor, they do provide a rather lovely pastoral backdrop.

THE SHEEP

Our sheep are a mix of traditional breeds, grazing on the ancient pastures that surround the barn. They play an important role in maintaining the land and keeping things naturally tidy — and we think they bring a quiet charm to the farm that’s hard to beat.

Lambing season is always a highlight, and if you’re lucky enough to visit in spring, you might catch a glimpse of some new arrivals.

THE CROPS

We farm a rotation of wheat, barley, peas and oats, along with cover crops and wildflower margins to support biodiversity. The changing fields shape the landscape through the seasons — green and soft in spring, gold in summer, and full of crunching stubble come autumn.

The backdrop may look wild and whimsical, but it’s all part of a carefully balanced farming system.

OUR ETHOS

We believe in farming that works with nature, not against it. That means low-input, regenerative methods wherever possible, allowing the land to stay productive, resilient and full of life for future generations.

It also means everything here is done with intention: from how we care for our animals, to how we welcome guests to the barn. We’re proud to open up part of the farm to host life’s most memorable moments — and to share a place that’s both beautiful and real.
